Cheap and Cheerful
The “5 and Dime” style of stores are no longer with us anymore, as they’ve been replaced with dollar stores. However, in the past, you could visit one of these stores and get a bunch of items for five or ten cents. At the time, it seemed like such a bargain. Do you remember going to one of these?
But, in reality, the products were usually just a bunch of junk that the stores were trying to get rid of cheaply. One of the most famous five-and-dime stores was Woolworth’s, as well as Kress Stores and the Mattingly Brothers. There were so many different types it’s hard to remember them all!
