#18: Time to Pivot
Making the career leap from college football to a professional NFL team is quite difficult. Even if a college player wins the coveted Heisman Trophy, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be drafted onto a professional football team. We’re sure the odds can be pretty discouraging for young athletes, but plenty of these talented players have found ways to pivot.
Instead of the NFL, several Heisman Trophy winners have pivoted to other professional major league sports. Bo Jackson played for the Auburn Tigers and the LA Raiders before switching to major league baseball. Vic Janowicz was on the Ohio State Buckeyes before he decided to pursue professional baseball after college. Last but not least, Charlie Ward was a quarterback for Florida State but later became a famous NBA player. You never know where life will lead you!
