#10: The Alamo
Set Piece: The Alamo
Location: North of Brackettville, Texas, USA
Production Budget: $12 million*
In 1836, this classic cowboy movie starring John Wayne was shot in Texas back in 1960. Since then, it’s been used in over 100 other cowboy flicks, plus ads and music videos. While filming in Brackettville, Texas, there were some issues. It’s rumored John Wayne and Richard Widmark didn’t exactly see eye to eye. And John Wayne, who helped fund the movie, was so stressed he smoked like a chimney on breaks.

Nowadays, Alamo Village is a hotspot for Wild West fans. You can walk around the sets where big names like Dean Martin, Raquel Welch, and Willie Nelson once worked. You might even grab a drink at the tavern and feel like a true cowboy yourself!
