#15: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Set Piece: Platform 9 and 3/4
Location: King’s Cross Station, UK
Production Budget: $125 million*
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was the magical start to J.K. Rowling’s billion-dollar series, which kicked off with a $125 million budget. And let’s not forget that one very famous scene that changed everything for Potheads: Platform 9 and ¾, the mystical train station that whisked Harry and his friends off to Hogwarts.
To get to Platform 9 and ¾, you had to sprint straight into what seemed like a solid wall. Sadly, it’s not real, but the scenes were shot at London’s Kings Cross, a real train station that’s been around since 1852 and still sends trains to and from London.
