#13: A WWII Warning Leaflet
This mind-boggling image is quite somber. This letter is a copy of the leaflets that the United States military dropped over multiple Japanese cities before dropping the destructive atomic bomb on Nagasaki. In this leaflet, the United States issues a warning to Japanese civilians about the incredibly devastating weapon they have in their possession.

The text, translated from Japanese, states that civilians need to urge the emperor to end the war and stop any further violent action from the United States. The US military dropped the world’s first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. On August 9, they dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki. Although they dropped these paper leaflets before the bombing of Nagasaki, up to 226,000 people were killed. A majority of them were innocent civilians.
