Selena Quintanilla
The beloved late Latina icon, Selena, grew up in a devout Jehovah’s Witness family. Her parents, Marcella and Abraham, placed significant importance on instilling their religious beliefs in their daughter from a young age. However, following Selena’s tragic passing in 1995, her parents made it clear that they do not participate in commemorating her death anniversary or birthday.
Abraham, speaking as a Jehovah’s Witness, explained their stance, saying, “As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we refrain from celebrating deaths or birthdays, and we want to ensure that people understand we are not involved in the festivities.” Their unwavering commitment to their faith, even in the face of profound loss, underscores the depth of their religious convictions and the principles they uphold as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
