#14: Thank You for Not Smoking
Even if you think you can get away with smoking in a “no smoking” hotel room, you can’t. They’re going to find out. The smell of smoke is so obvious, even if you try to air out the room or smoke out the window. That smell lingers, and can really bother non-smokers when they stay in the same room after you. They’re booking a no-smoking room for a reason, after all!
If you do happen to get caught by the hotel, you will get hit with a pretty hefty fine for violating the no-smoking policy. It costs money to clean rooms after they’ve been exposed to smoke, and they pass that cost onto you. It’s better just not to do it in the first place. Find a hotel that accommodates smoking, or find a designated smoking area outside to avoid paying extra fees.
