A Life More Ordinary
Did you know that in the vibrant autumn of 1965, the iconic Janis Joplin was swept off her feet by a suitor named Peter de Blanc? After a romantic courtship in the lively streets of San Francisco, De Blanc, an IBM Computers employee based in the bustling city of New York, journeyed to seek her father’s blessing for marriage. Excitedly, Janis and her mother dove into wedding preparations. However, De Blanc, a frequent traveler due to work, abruptly ended the engagement.
Years later, Janis declared her disinterest in becoming a mere secretary or housewife like the women she was acquainted with. So, even though he took another minuscule fragment of her heart, it was rather fortuitous that Peter decided to hightail it out of there. Had he remained, the world would have been robbed of Janis’ soul-stirring music.
