35. Run, Cheetah, Run
Cheetahs are known for their incredible speed and agility, but despite the cool factor, they face a significant genetic challenge because of a historic bottleneck event. It happened approximately 10,000 years ago, and during this period, their population experienced a dramatic reduction, leading to a severe loss of genetic diversity.
This genetic bottleneck resulted in cheetahs having unusually low levels of genetic differences compared to other species. Unfortunately, this left them vulnerable to various threats, including disease, habitat loss, and environmental changes.
