52. Ain’t Nothing But a Heartache
In a healthy heart, a special part at the top starts the heartbeat, making sure the heart beats at a normal speed. But if this part gets hurt, other parts of the heart can jump in to keep the heart beating. When someone gets a new heart through surgery, this system changes a bit.

The new heart tends to beat faster, around 100 times a minute, because the normal controls aren’t working yet. It takes some time for the new heart to connect fully with the body’s control system and slow down to a normal speed. This shows just how amazing and flexible the heart is, especially when doctors give someone a new one.
