Helena Bonham Carter, cast at just 18 for A Room With A View, admitted she didn’t have much kissing experience then. But she soon shared a spontaneous, on-screen kiss with Julian Sands’ character. Recalling the scene, Carter said she was focused on navigating the field in high heels before reaching her co-star for their unexpected kiss.

“You know that kiss everyone loved? It was completely improvised at the last minute,” she revealed in an interview. She explained that after a day of things not going quite as planned on set, she decided to take a chance and go for it.
