#39: Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover
If you have spent time on the bookish internet for any length of time, you’ve probably encountered this hot button debate: spines in or spines out? If you haven’t, we’ll fill you in. Some people choose to decorate their shelves with their book collection spines-in, making only the page edges visible. Others think this spines-in choice is an abomination and are firmly Team Spine-Out for their bookshelves. This person’s parents have made a controversial choice for their shelves, and they probably don’t even know it.

For some reason they’ve flipped around all but one book on their shelf, making it impossible to know the titles without pulling them out to look at the cover. If you’re Team Spines-Out (like us), this makes absolutely no sense. Why would you want to organize your books in a way that makes them impossible to easily reference? If you’re Team Spines-In, you’re probably applauding these people for their aesthetic good taste. Hopefully, you’ve taken a stance on this breaking news topic.
