Stay in Character
In most households, traditionally, it was the father who dressed up as Santa to surprise his kids on Christmas eve. One year, this family decided to give the role to a good friend of the oldest sibling. He probably fit into the costume, and they figured that having someone from outside the family would be the perfect cover.

Unfortunately, the guy wanted to enjoy his holiday and had one drink too many – forgetting that he was supposed to stay in character throughout the night! Next year, they should hold auditions for the role and maybe even consider paying a professional. I guess there was no need for Santa the following year, though, because the jig was up.
