#32: Head East, 1974
There’s a good chance you don’t recall Head East, the 1970s rock sensation. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, in the early 70s, they grabbed the South and Midwest with their magnetizing tunes, showcasing undeniable talent. Their “Never Been Any Reason” hit is a classic rock staple today.
Their debut, Flat as a Pancake, caught A&M Records’ eye, leading to this 1974 publicity shot. Despite re-releasing it and dropping six more albums, national acclaim eluded them. Yet, their early promise remains undiminished.
