#18: A Castle Protected by a Dragon
Is there anything more horrifying than a bright pink building being slowly squeezed to death by a dragon? Believe it or not, this is a Buddhist Temple called Wat Samphran in Khlong Mai, Thailand. It’s 17 stories tall, and the interior of the dragon is a staircase; though it’s in such ill repair, it’s no longer traversable.
Buddha died at the age of 80 years old, and this temple was constructed to be exactly 80 meters tall for that reason. It was completed in 1985. The inside is even more terrifying than the outside, and photos can be found online reminiscent of abandoned buildings full of statues of Buddha. Thankfully, his smiling and cheery demeanor make it just a little less scary.
