Spooky Buildings That Put Us in a Halloween State of Mind

This is obviously the lair of an absolutely evil villain set to destroy the world, right? Not exactly. This is the lair of some of the most amazing superheroes on Earth: firefighters. This is an Italian fire station nestled into the side of a mountain in Margreid, Italy. Why would they choose such a location?

Open land is scarce in the area and needed for farming, and fires can quickly get out of control as the wind blows through the crevices, fueling the flames. The solution came from Bergmeister-Wolf, an architectural company specializing in out-of-the-box (or into the mountain) thinking. The mountain provides a steady temperature for the fire station, making this a more straightforward build than the architects initially assumed!
