#17: The Statue of Liberty, French Edition
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic symbols of the United States. Did you know it’s originally from France? The Statue of Liberty was gifted by France to the US as a symbol of international friendship between the two nations. It was officially dedicated by the US in October 1886.

Before the Statue of Liberty was stationed in New York City, she lived in Paris, France, where construction began in 1876. The statue was completed in 1884, which is when this photo may have been taken. The scaffolding around the famous statue is most likely in preparation for disassembling the whole thing to ship it overseas.
