Her New Beginning with Frederick Cotton
In the shadow of tragedy, Mary Ann saw an opportunity. Margaret Cotton passed away in March 1870 due to a stomach ailment. Devastated, Frederick Cotton left Mary Ann to care for him and his children. Their connection deepened, leading to Mary Ann’s 12th pregnancy.
Unbeknownst to Cotton, he was stepping into a dark history; ten of Mary Ann’s eleven children had passed away. Regardless, the two wed in September 1870, and the dawn of 1871 saw the birth of their son, Robert, marking a new chapter in their lives.
