Dolores Umbridge is a character whose physical appearance is described in a way that reflects her cruel and authoritarian nature. In the books, Umbridge is depicted as a squat woman with a toad-like face, including a wide, slack mouth and a preference for wearing an excessive amount of pink clothing, which she pairs with a matching bow on her head.
This attire mirrors her superficial sweetness and the sinister undertones of her character. In the film adaptations, Umbridge was portrayed by actress Imelda Staunton, and while she captured the character’s cruelty and vindictiveness, her physical appearance was somewhat less exaggerated.
