Transition Stipend for Departing Presidents
Departing U.S. presidents, including those who resign, are given a six-month stipend by the federal government to ease their return to civilian life. This stipend can amount to as much as $900,000 for transition purposes.

It’s a gesture of support aimed at facilitating a smooth transition from the highest office in the land to a more ordinary existence. So, while the presidency may come with its fair share of trials and tribulations, departing presidents can at least rest assured that they won’t be left completely out in the cold when their time in office comes to an end.
