John Eugene Osborne Allegedly Made a Pair of Shoes Out of Human Skin
In the annals of the Wild West, few tales are as peculiar as that of John Eugene Osborne. A man of many talents – a physician, farmer, and eventually the governor of Wyoming – Osborne’s legacy is tinged with an extraordinary twist involving the infamous “Big Nose” George Parrott.
Following Parrott’s execution, Osborne embarked on a rather unconventional endeavor. He conducted a post-mortem examination on Parrott’s remains and, surprisingly, used a portion of his skin to craft a pair of boots. These macabre boots would later make an astonishing appearance at Osborne’s own gubernatorial inaugural ball in 1892.
