#27: Gray-Rock Brakes Advertisement, the Late 1940s
When it comes to advertisements, a lot has changed in how people choose to gain the attention of potential consumers. Whilst the general laws of marketing have remained the same, how people enact these practices has changed significantly. And even though we have moved past certain practices, they are slowly coming back into fashion.
Take this advertisement from Gray-Rock brakes, for example… Everything about this screams “shock factor”. They are trying to evoke that feeling within everyone that makes them want to feel safe and secure by having a cherry-red, screaming face smack-bang in the middle. And even though this is obviously quite dated, elements of this poster could be seen in advertising today.
