#32: Cellophane Advertisement, 1950s
It is safe to say that the world of advertising has changed a lot in the past 100 years. Sure, many things have remained the same, but how advertisements look and the different styles that companies adopt have changed quite a bit. The wonderful thing about hindsight is that it gives us the ability to look back on certain things and understand where we went wrong…
This type of advertisement would never fly today… The general public wouldn’t be able to move past the whole “Baby in cellophane” thing. We get the idea that the stork is carrying a baby, but the fact that the baby is covered in plastic crosses a lot of boundaries. It would be interesting to know if anyone had a problem with this advertisement back then…
