I Spy with My Little Eye…
When it comes to monumental achievements, carving four presidents’ faces into a mountain is pretty impressive. But did you know that each of those faces has a unique feature that required extra attention to detail? The sculptors who created Mount Rushmore had to hand-carve each of the presidents’ eyes, using nothing but their own eyesight as a guide. And let me tell you, that’s no small feat – each eye is over 11 feet wide!

It’s a good thing they weren’t carving the Mona Lisa. But hey, at least the presidents have some killer eye contact. And who knows – maybe those hand-carved eyes are the reason why Mount Rushmore attracts millions of visitors each year. Or maybe it’s just because George Washington’s nose is so darn impressive.
