Tiger King: NYC Edition
In 2003, New York City’s finest were faced with a truly ferocious foe: a 400-pound Bengal tiger being kept as a pet in a small city apartment! Now, we’ve all heard of people keeping cats and dogs as pets, but a tiger? That’s taking things to a whole new level! Thankfully, authorities were informed, and the NYPD was able to rescue the tiger and bring him to safety.

The big cat was then sent to live out the rest of his days in an animal sanctuary in Ohio, where he could roam free and be himself. And while the story of the New York City tiger may seem like something out of a movie, it serves as a reminder that wild animals are not meant to be kept as pets. So if you’re thinking about adopting a furry friend, maybe stick with a hamster or a dog instead!
