#22: A Weighty Issue
Do you think you’re someone who doesn’t have any biases? That you would never judge someone based on how they look or their race or where they come from? Well, I have bad news: you are almost certainly kidding yourself if you think that. Even the best-intentioned of us have biases that we may not be aware of.
And a big one is weight bias, where people who are of above-average weight are treated differently because of it. It can be a major problem in areas like medicine, where legitimate health complaints may be written off by doctors because they assume that any symptoms are just a natural result of being overweight.
