#25: Just Say No
Earlier, we talked about how difficult it can be to parse nutritional advice when it seems like that advice changes constantly. And nowhere is that more true than with alcohol. There is some evidence that drinking alcohol can have positive effects on your heart. However, there are also loads of risks associated with drinking—damage to other parts of the body, accidents, etc.
And if you want those limited heart benefits, they could also be gained with far fewer risks through exercise and healthy eating. So it kind of depends on how you interpret this. But in general, if you tell yourself you’re drinking for your health, you’re probably fooling yourself.
