#31: Pretty Privilege
The concept of “pretty privilege” has been researched a lot, with studies finding that people assume that attractive people are more moral and that pretty people get hired for jobs more often. A couple interesting studies found that pretty female students did worse in online classes, indicating that good grades they got in in-person classes were based on their faces.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, though. Research shows that pretty people are more likely to be perceived as vain, and they may experience mental distress because they’re often treated like they only got to where they were because of their looks. So I guess I’m fine with being average-looking.
