#33: That’s Nuts
Did you know that a peanut isn’t actually a nut? We need to talk to whoever named those, because that is very misleading. In fact, they are legumes, along with things like beans, lentils, alfalfa, and clover.
So that means it’s possible to be allergic to peanuts but be totally fine with real nuts (you’ll often hear them referred to as tree nuts). But I wouldn’t recommend slipping someone with a peanut allergy an almond; it is possible for there to be cross-reactivity between peanut allergies and tree nut allergies.
