Uncovering the Origins of Man’s First Canine Companion in the Czech Republic
Previously thought to have been domesticated 14,000 years ago, startling evidence from 2011 suggested domesticated dogs existed 31,500 years back. Discovered in Predmosti, Czech Republic, these ancient dog skulls rewrite the history of domestication.
These ancient skulls, markedly different from their wolf forebears, showcased domestic traits like a broader braincase and a shorter snout. Indicative of their bond with humans, one was even found buried with a bone in its mouth.
