Calling an Emergency

Inside the house, everything was quiet. The lamp still lit up the living room, a cup of tea she had been drinking sat on the coffee table by the couch, and the TV was even still on. It was a strange sign of normality despite the craziness that had just happened. But Lee Ann was starting to feel the pain of her injuries, and she wasn’t fully safe yet. She staggered over to her phone and immediately dialed 911. A pleasant voice answered, asking her what her emergency was. She was told authorities were being dispatched and to stay put inside until they came.
