A Stormy Night
It began on Tuesday night as the family went about their routine. Lee Ann’s husband was out of town for a few days for work, leaving Lee Ann to care for the dog alone for a few days. It was dark outside and raining at this point, but at about 8:30 in the evening, she went to the door to let Smokey out so he could do his business before they settled in for the night. Lee Ann opened the sliding door, and Smokey immediately darted out happily despite the weather. All seemed fine, though Lee Ann suddenly sensed something wasn’t quite normal.
